So I assume that most people have figured this out already due to the fact that MS Word still to this day does not support MLA 8 citaton styles, but I figure I'll drop a PSA for everyone else who might be searching for a useful answer because I ended up here while trying to use word for citations.

Mendeley is a free, open-source citation handler with MS Word plugin support. Making an account is free and it will create citations from your sources, has support for MLA 8, and will insert those citations right into word like you want from the reference tab. It will also save those citations to the cloud and other useful features. I have not used it extensively yet but it seems to be the answer to this problem. You use it from a webpage similar to easybib, and then it puts it all into word for you.
