    Exactly!! Or if you wanted to say "figures 1-4 show..." you could cross reference only the numbers. Instead all you can do is "Figure 1 through Figure 4 show..." which is awkward and not proper grammar.

    Agree with Eugene. Should have an only number function. Sometimes I want to say for instance "Tables 4-8 show ..." It is impossible to use cross references to do this under the current system. Instead I have to awkwardly say "Table 4 through Table 8 show..." which is not really proper grammar but it's the only way to have the cross references update correctly without having to go back and edits to the document every time the cross references are updated.

    There should be a way to disable it. I rarely need to adjust these settings. If I do, a simple right click, and selection of the appropriate options is convenient enough. This button mostly gets in the way instead of aiding in efficiency.
