Please reinstate this ability. Writers working on very long documents need the ability to check just one section that they are working on, and then get the readability stats for that section. This was possible on older versions of Word - it makes no sense it was removed.

This is something I love in other text programs like Notepad++, Sublime text and so on. As a writer who deals with huge docs and who uses split display on a big monitor, this would be lovely!

I think there must be a point where a sentence is so non-sensical that the grammar checker can no longer work. I assume it checks each point of grammar in context to the rest of the sentence. If the sentence, like the one you suggest above, is so crazy that the context is impossible to ascertain, it can't make any checks except for the obvious ones like spellings.

Jane, no it wouldn't! No more than it does with any other file that is imported locally from Onedrive - I assume you do that for other important files when you work in the field. You could add the dictionaries to the offline settings, perhaps, so it always had an offline copy that would sync next time you were online.

This is something that is very common in code-writing progs and something I would love.

Good idea this. As the blog on the Oxford Dictionaries points out, the idea of trying to avoid using a preposition to end a sentence or clause with, came from a particular group of people who were trying to get English to conform to Latin, which it is not.

So, you are perfectly correct, this is not an English grammatical rule.
