Track Changes should be enabled by default or as an optional global setting for shared documents. An alternative to setting a global default is giving the option to turn on Track Changes in the Share dialog.

For team collaboration to be effective, we need to see the edits made by various members and accept or reject them. As currently implemented, unless the document originator remembers to turn on tracking before saving (and lock tracking on by setting a password), changes/old versions are difficult to detect and best versions of text lost. This should work more like Google Docs Suggested Edits feature for simplicity. This feature needs to work across Desktop, Mobile, and Browser implementations of Word for truly collaborative editing.
