In Windows you can make the insertion point wider. That makes it easier to find

You need a ribbon theme that goes back to the design idea of providing contrast between the clickable buttons/links and the unclickable background

Separate from the ribbon them is the application window, as the original poster said. Many people find the white background and black/grey text too high contrast to work for with long periods. As well there are many users with actual vision complaints that can't use it. There have been several postings on the Answers.com Word forum in the last month on that theme. For example, there is one user who would like a pink application background because it is a medical fact that it helps with his dyslexia.

Basically, there are a lot of users who would really like the ability to change the application window background color and display font color to something that works better for them.

We used to be able to do it through the Windows Control Panel. But the windows developers have dumbed down the Windows 10 user interface so that those options are no longer available.

Many people have been asking for different "themes" the ribbon was released!

I for one would like to see a 2010 theme. I preferred the more detailed, "friendly" look.

In the last month several people on the Word Answers.com forum have asked for a way to change the application background color. It used to be possible thorough Windows, but Win10 has dumbed it down and out. And "you guys" removed the WP blue background option. For example, one person with a specific form of dyslexia needs a pink background. But many other people simply want a way of reducing the contrast between the background and the text.

Yes, please do bring them back. And make them more obviously visible. They were too easy to miss in 2010. Make the display user controllable.
