Open multiple documents (simultaneously)
I'd like the ability to open multiple documents at the same time, so I can switch easily between them. When switching from one document to another it closes the current one and it takes loading time to open the other doc (which isn't workable in a meeting).
With something like tabs you can easily switch...

We’re pleased to share with you that we’ve addressed this long-standing feature request: the ability to open Multiple Word Documents on your iPadOS. This capability is available to M365 subscribers starting from build 2.37.504.0.

Agreed, we should also be have the option to show two views of the same document side by side.

Valid Point., If word is going to be useful on Ipad, the only way is to be able to work with more than one document or an option to switch between two word documents while we work.

Normally I work in Mac viewing 2 Word documents open at the same time, in iPad pro is not possible with split screen. I want to edit both documents at the same time.

Now that it seems that iOS 10 is not adding a native ability to open an app twice side by side (such as Word), it is up to MS to implement it at the app level. Apple shows how this can be implemented elegantly with Safari for iOS 10, which shows two browser tabs open side by side.
I understand that for apps that can modify files (such as Office files), an added complication is that a user could open two versions of the same file twice and there would be access or syncing conflicts. In this case, Word could either prevent users from doing this, or use this as an opportunity to show different parts of the same document side by side.

As iOS 9 split screen does not allow users to show the same app side-by-side, the Word app could implement this and allow users to open two documents side-by-side, or different parts of the same document
