Open multiple documents (simultaneously)
I'd like the ability to open multiple documents at the same time, so I can switch easily between them. When switching from one document to another it closes the current one and it takes loading time to open the other doc (which isn't workable in a meeting).
With something like tabs you can easily switch...
We’re pleased to share with you that we’ve addressed this long-standing feature request: the ability to open Multiple Word Documents on your iPadOS. This capability is available to M365 subscribers starting from build 2.37.504.0.
Any update on this feature yet?

open two documents at the same time
Any update on the availability of this feature in Word and Excel?
It’s coming. Outlook just got their update for multitasking and the rest of Office 365 on iPadOS should follow.
This would allow one to easily compare and simultaneously compare, copy and paste, and drag and drop images between documents. Thank You

Pretty sure MS doesn't care about the Apple platform at all. I can't even open multiple files at the same time which is a critical feature when using Word, Excel and Powerpoint. The hope here is they want people to frustratingly quit the iOS platform and revert to Windows. Of course that won't happen.

this is greatly needed to continue using MS Word and Excel on the ipad - other programs permit.
I can’t believe that it’s 2020 and Microsoft has not managed to deliver this feature. It can’t be that hard because so many other apps have done it. This just proves that Microsoft is not honestly committed to iPad as a platform, so they should just come out and say it.
Can’t believe that it is taking this long. I use Pages more and more to open Word documents side by side and edit them. If MS Word for iPadOS takes much longer to implement this feature, I may find myself using Pages as my main word processor most of the time, as it does pretty much what I need and editing is easy. I’m basically doing that now anyway.

Best news I heard today! It is actually quite unbelievable that while this was demoed on the stage way back in June, Microsoft wasnt ready with it when iOS 13 launched. I had given up hope and was at the brink of cancelling my O365 subscription since everyone in my family now uses iPad and without this feature, the subscription is basically useless. Anyway,, so finally work has started on this and I really hope it doesnt take too long for it to see the light of the day.

This is extremely important!
You guys gotta get this done. It’s the cornerstone of iPadOS; if I can’t have two documents next to each other it negates everything I’m doing with the ipad. Ive spent the last hour frustrating trying to use Notes just so I can have two word processors next to each other & I hate the Notes app. Is anybody even working on this? This should’ve been figured out long ago
Sorry aber ich kann kein Englisch

This feature should have been ready at the release of iOS13. Does any one at Microsoft read these customer requests? Would be nice to get a response from the MS development team. If they are not willing to add important features like these, then all of us users need to move on to other apps that respond to user feedback. Actually looking forward to the day that I am not required to use Microsoft products. Its a shame that I helped support this company back on the day when other companies had similar software products. Drove out the competition and now MS seems to think they don’t need to listen to their customers.

IOS 13 introduced the possibility of having the same application open in multiple windows (e.g., Pages). I would like to be able to drag word into split view and have two word documents open side by side (or one in the multitasking pane overlay the open word document.
In the alternative, being able to have “tabs” of different documents in the app would work.
When will Microsoft apps on iPad OS/iOS 13 update to allow multiple windows of the same app simultaneously? This would greatly increase productivity when document processing on iPad.

I understand that a) the devs are working on this, b) it’s incredibly hard, and c) they’ll release it when it’s stable.
I also get that it’s all but impossible to predict when a feature this complex will be ready for official release. But surely the dev team has a target date.
I and many, many others would appreciate knowing what that target date is.
Yes, I realize it’s not in Microsoft’s interest to promise delivery and then miss the date. But I’m not asking for a promise. I’m thinking in terms of a time range such as “by mid-2020.”
Being in the dark is incredibly frustrating. I’ve read so many threads peppered with comments from users contemplating bailing on Office for iPad and moving on to other solutions.
Can’t the devs at the very least say, “We’re working on it and hope to have it ready soon”?
Saying absolutely nothing does the opposite of building trust and confidence in the product and company.
Thanks for listening to a little rant from a dedicated user who a) sorely needs this feature and b) wants very much to keep using Office for iPad.

This is the same suggestion as opening multiple screens! Must be bundled together!
Very important and useful feature that needs to be updated.
This feature is possible in iPadOS 13, they even featured MS Word on the stage at WWDC. So guys, this feature is coming, probably after the release of iPadOS 13/13.1.
