Do not force people who open a doc that is an email attachment to save it to their drive before editing
unlike in the past, now when you open an attached word doc from outlook, you have to save the doc before you can edit it. that adds a step that was not previously required. it's great to have that as an option but accd to MS support it is not an option now so it makes using Word more of a hassle than it was in the past

I like this feature. It helps keep folks from saving a document in the Outlook Temp folder which is very difficult to reach if you were to just inadvertently hit save without this feature. By bringing up the save as dialog box you force folks to save a new copy immediately and it might help a little in avoiding the Outlook Temp folder as a location.
This new default is very annoying - I avoid opening docs in Mac Word because of this. Is there any way to change this behavior?
+1. When you open a Word document or Excel spreadsheet from Outlook 2016, Word and Excel (and PowerPoint for that matter) should treat the document like a "new" one. You should be allowed to make changes, but when you save the document, you should be prompted with the Save As dialog.
