Restore (to Word for Mac 2016) ability to hide "reviewer, time stamp" in comment balloons
In Word for Mac 2011, I could set my Preferences > Reviewing to hide the reviewer, time stamp, and action buttons in comment balloons. I liked this because I am a writing teacher and I make a lot of comments. With my name and the time stamp on ever one, it takes up too much space, often spilling past the margins and into a sidebar or a bottom-bar.
In Word for Mac 2016, this function is removed, and I really need it back. Please. It's a simple little checkbox. I and my students are severely inconvenienced by this. Thank you.
Thanks for your feedback! We’re reviewing your suggestion.

I needed to remove the reviewer name in a word for mac 2016 document and succeeded by:
- selecting protect document on the reviewer tab
- in the password protect box, I ticked the box for 'remove personal information from this file on save'
Hope this helps.
I agree with the request to be able to enable or disable the time-stamp from Comment balloons in words. I am in the legal industry and ofter review contracts in the evening hours and on weekends. I do not want anyone to see the time that the comments were made.
Further, its a waste of everyone's time to force a user to mess with a document's code to remove time-stamps.
I really wish there was another real competitor to Word in the current software marketplace so as to meaningfully drive innovation!

I agree with the comment above; I really need this ability to remove the time/date! I am also a writing teacher, and a college essay reviewer: sometimes I work right up to my meetings (deadline) and I don't need students to see my working hours. It was the simplest feature and it was very helpful. It would be most helpful to add it again. Thank you.
Again, an academic here who needs to be able to use blind comments without time stamps. Why on Earth would you get rid of this function??? Don't fix something that's not broken! This is twice I've run into a problem with your "updated" versions in a couple of weeks!! Not cool, Microsoft, not cool!

Please bring back this function. It is essential for academic use.
I am an academic marking docs. We have to moderate, and I am getting docs back with comments by moderators, which is completely unacceptable. It is visually cluttering to have our names. PLEASE get rid of this. The only reason more aren't voting is that they are working on old versions of Word, so this is a real no-brainer. Get going, please, and let us know asap. I have 20 x 10,000 word drafts to review soon, and I am not looking forward to it.
Like, Anon, I'm an academic who needs to do blind peer reviews, AND I need to mark student papers without the students knowing when I marked them, AND I need the space in the comments to write more comments. MS - please return this function!

Like others, I'm an academic who needs to do blind reviews. IF ONLY the people who made these decisions about what features to include or removed ACTUALLY TALKED to REAL USERS software would have fewer useless features and more useful ones. This version of Word is now practically useless for blind reviews!!!!! Enable removal of name on comments. Add back the time stamp.
I agree. I'm an academic who needs to do blind peer reviews, AND I need to mark student papers without the students knowing when I marked them, AND I need the space in the comments to write more comments. MS - please return this function!
Maddening that they would remove this, please BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!
+1 for Word being completely useless for anonymous peer reviews without the ability to suppress commenter's names.
All academics should stay away from Word for Mac 2016 until this issue is addressed.

I definitely agree about the spacing! I also have to do anonymous peer reviewing for professional academic journals, and it rather defeats the purpose if every comment line has my name on it. (I found a temporary workaround for this, but it's clumsy and inconvenient.) It makes no sense to remove this function just for Mac users, and I'd very much appreciate it if you could add it back in for future versions.

I need this feature in a document that has been reviewed by several reviewers over time. I don't when comments were made and if they have been accomplished or not. I NEED the time/date stamp back NOW!
