  1. Word for Mac 2016 needs to allow custom toolbars from template files

Our workflow uses macros, accessible by buttons on toolbars in Word 2003 and Word 2011 for Mac. These show up in an 'Add-ins' tab on Word 2007+ on PC, which is fine.
In Word 2016, these are not visible at all! Toolbars don't show up, and neither does the Add-ins tab. At least one of these should be reinstated in 2016.

  3. Mac version is missing Apply Styles dialog box from Windows version

Word for Windows has an "Apply Styles" dialog box with "Autocomplete style names" checkbox. This would be VERY helpful on the Mac version, so that we can apply styles by typing with autocomplete.

Please add this feature to the Mac version!

For details on how it works in Windows, see: https://www.linkedin.com/learning/word-2013-styles-in-depth/applying-styles-using-the-apply-styles-dialog-box

  4. Korean character input system is unusable and must be fixed

When typing Korean, Word and PowerPoint take "every single typing" as an event unit, and when clicking undo, the Korean characters will disappear by every single character. (Not the way as English character.)
Because MSword refreshes or records its status on every event, MSword and MSpowerpoint become sluggish and unusable when I type Korean characters. Window version does not have the problem and other Mac applications either.

I hope the problem should be fixed soon.

  5. Enable Live Preview for fonts

Enable written text to preview what a new font would look like by rolling over the font list.

  6. Bring back formal grammar rules option in Word's grammar checker

Word used to have an option to use a standard grammar or formal grammar libraries. The option for formal writing is no longer there. Please bring it back

  7. Lose the 'Welcome Back' notification.

Please drop the 'Welcome Back' notification when a work in progress document is opened or, provide an option to turn it off. It is an inane annoyance. We are not children.

  8. Open Word 2016 for Mac Dos in Same View and screen position as last opened

Please, is it possible to restore the function in Woor 2016 for Mac that enabled documents to be opened with the same view and screen position as last opened. I have several documents open at once, and there is a process of continuing edting. THerefore the absence of this feature in the new version is VERY disappointing , to say the least.
    Kind regards
    Jim

  10. Please fix intermittent jagged and horrible display of fonts in Word 2016!

In Word 2016 for Mac, many older files (that is, files not actually created in Word 2016) open with a very horrible and jagged looking display of fonts. Files created "fresh" with Word 2016 do not seem to have this problem. The really interesting thing about this, seems to be that this is exactly the same bug that was in Excel 2016 until November (until the 15.16 update); that is, as a user has pointed out on this Microsoft Answers thread (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2016-macword/subpixel-antialiasing-doesnt-work-on-certain-docx/6c6b4cf6-f86f-4704-9e04-493e91e0cecc ), in affected files, if you highlight the jagged text with a colour from the ribbon, the…

  11. Improve support for fonts that did not come with Office 2016.

A large number of fonts that work with Office 2011 do not show properly in Office 2016. This issue has got worst post 15.14 update.

  12. side by side view for two open documents!

In Word 2016' View menu, there should be an option for a side by side view for two open documents! This exists in Windows; why not Mac?

  13. Post To Blog On Mac

We need the same feature that we have on Windows version but for Mac one. I am one of well-known blogger, I bought Mac specifically for writing and only to find out that my all-time favorite typing application Word doesn't have the post-to-blog feature I was disappointed. So please add that for Mac version so that some of us bloggers can do some work on Mac using the Office 365 Word 2016 for blog.

  14. Impossibly small text size in the spell checking box unable to be changed to make readable.

Font size in spell checking box is impossibly small, and whereas with WS Word for Windows where you can increase size by doing a general zoom in on document, this method doesn't work on Word for Mac

  15. Spelling and grammar check just not useful any more

Spelling and grammar check used to be a great tool for improving one's essays etc., but now the suggestions are inappropriate and it has become a waste of time using it from my perspective.

  16. Add all pc features to mac version of Word

Full featured is great. But Current Mac version makes us feel like second class citizens. Offer at least most of PC features. You will sell more software! Many of the requests below come down to this. Put politics aside and serve eager users!

  19. Add full support do Content Control and XML in Mac, including VBA Functions.

Make Content Control functionalities, including XML links and VBA functions, available on Word for Mac also.
Nowadays it is possible only to edit the values inside Content Control, but it's not possible to create nor edit the CC itself, and to get worst it do not have any VBA functions for it, so it's not possible to do value edition programatically.

It'll improve a lot the productivity!

  20. Add or Enable Comment Shading (or otherwise improve comment visibilty)

There is a serious problem in the current version of Word with comments becoming lost among the various tracked changes. This was not much of a problem in Word for Mac 2011 due to the colored background of the comments. The colors made comments stand out and differentiated them from the tracked changes.

Really the only way to handle comments now is to turn off the visibility of tracked changes. This is a problem, both because it requires a learning curve for clients and (more importantly) because often the purpose of the comments is to explain a change. So one…
