  1. Resume Assistant for Word for Mac - a must need. ETA?

Microsoft recently added Resume Assistant for all Windows Office 365 users and being a paid member, I think this should be available for Mac users as well. We should'nt loose customers on Mac...

We heard you loud and clear and we’re excited to announce Resume Assistant for Mac for Office Insiders! Resume Assistant is available to Office 365 subscribers in Insiders Fast for Mac versions >=180308. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_officeinsider-mso_mac-msoinsider_wd/insiders-resume-assistant-now-available-to/b16a7333-89ae-405c-805d-23676944a3a3. We expect to roll out more broadly in the coming months.

  2. Allow Draft View as a default option in Word

Why would Print Layout be the default in a 2016 release? 98% of the docs I create in Word are never printed. The description of Draft View from a support article: "Use draft view to edit and format text quickly when you don't have to see how the content looks when you print it. Draft view shows text formatting but simplifies the layout of the page so that you can type and edit quickly." QUICKLY AND SIMPLY are better.

We’ve heard your feedback loud and clear about wanting your documents to open into Draft View in Mac Word.

In an earlier release we had adjusted the default view logic to align with Windows behavior, but recognize that this disrupted many of your workflows on Mac.

For Insider Fast starting in build 16.12 (Build 180314), if you open a document it will open in the last view you used in Word – between Print Layout, Web, Draft, and Outline. (The exception is for new documents, which continue to open in Print Layout view).

Please let us know how this works for you. Your feedback will help us continue to make improvements.

  3. .svg/Microsoft Office compatibility for OSX

I'm astounded office and .svg compatibility is only available on the windows platform. I am a scientist using microsoft office on my Mac, and would appreciate being able to use my .svg files in the package.

  4. Convert PDF to Word doc

Word 2013 and 2016 for Windows both offer the ability to convert PDF's to .docx files. This functionality would allow Mac users to avoid the cost of an Adobe Acrobat DC subscription to convert files. This has been one of the most useful additions for day to day work that I have found in the newest version of Win Word, and I sorely miss it using Word for Mac 2016.

We’re pleased to share with you that we’ve addressed this long-standing feature request: the ability to open a PDF, convert it to a Word document, and start editing! This capability is available to Office 365 subscribers starting from build 16.29 (19082004).

Derik, on behalf of the Word team

  5. Where is the touch bar support?!?!?!?!

Your company advertised that it had already added touch bar support to office for Mac on the Microsoft blogs. However it is not installed there is no plan for it on roadmaps. This is False advertising by the Vice President of the office team!! Where is the touch bar support for the new Mac?!?!?!?!

  6. Please put back the passive-voice checking function in Spelling and Grammar. You've been promising it for nearly a year!

Being able to check for passive voice is a critical function. We need it. You removed it and haven't put it back despite months of people asking you for it. WHY??? This is unacceptable.

  7. Please include the Draw/ink function in Word for Mac! Thank you. the sooner the better...

The draw function is extremely useful in many contexts and I'm sure many people would be very happy with this feature, including myself.

  8. Please add full RTL support for Word on the Mac (Arabic, Hebrew, etc.)

We are subscribers of the Office 365 and some members of the family are on Windows and others are on the Mac. We can't believe that in 2016 Microsoft does not support RTL languages (Arabic, Hebrew and such) on the Mac!!!!! This is such a basic requirement of the top productivity tool in the world. Please don't send us to look for alternatives. This applies to Excel and PowerPoint too and I will post the same request for these tools as well.

We are pleased to announce that Office 2016 for Mac now supports right-to-left language rendering, input, and editing for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu and offers Arabic and Hebrew right-to-left UI in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Outlook support will follow within a month. If you see gaps or have suggestions for improved functionality for the languages and cultures served by such writing systems, please feel free to post a new idea.

  9. Embedded active links from .docx to .pdf

    Hello

Now all links in Word are lost in the .pdf.

We need active: TOC, Footnotes, Endnotes, Cross-references, Internal links, etc.

    This is a must feature.

    Greetings

  10. File naming when creating PDF

In Excel when you create a PDF it is automatically named the same as spreadsheet name, in word it is blank forcing you to go to the extra step every time of naming it. Like the excel way better

  12. College /University Students missing APA Styles

Many College and University students for Reports and dissertations to Write for example in Harvard APA Writing Style. Currently none can be added. If an attempt is made and entered in Current Listing. Cause Word 2016 To Crash upon opening. I notice you have a few listed but not the current Harvard APA. Although I am not a Student. I am a Community Moderator on the Answers Forum for Mac versions. And this keeps coming up. 14. Distribute Office 2016 apps via the Mac App Store

Receiving updates would be easier avoiding the malfunctions of the AutoUpdate app.

  15. Office for Mac Apps Should be 64-bit!

When will the new Office for Mac apps go to 64-bit? I was expecting this to happen with Office 2016 for Mac. Almost all other apps on Mac OS X are 64-bit so it would be nice to see Office for Mac transition too.

  16. Bring back focus view

On Word for Mac 2016 can we please have the focus view back? Not just the annoying and useless full screen view, but the focus view for concentrated reading and editing. (If possible, add the option to highlight to focus view as well.)
What is the point of issuing a supposed upgrade if you are getting rid of some of the best features. What do you think people do with an app called Word if not primarily use it to work with words?

  17. Thai language support in Word for Mac

Word for Mac has been unable to split Thai language word and sentences in documents since version 2011. This made working with Mac on Thai language document extremely difficult. It is strange that Thai language support is added to iPhones / iPads before the Mac in July. When is this happening?

  19. Add support for Hebrew so that it'll work as it works in other platforms

In windows, iOS and other platforms you can:
    1.) Have a Hebrew interface
2.) Create a right to left Hebrew document and use Bold on hebrew
3.) see an Hebrew document in the exact same font and look as it was written with.

Please add that to the Mac a lot of people needs that!!

  20. Allow to customise the ribbon, as in the Windows version

and allow to define specific commands as additional items in the ribbon, similarly to what was feasible in the buttons (above the ribbon) in the 2011 version.
