Order of "Save As" options.
PLEASE allow me to change the order of the "Save As" options on the left hand side of the Office panel that appears after you select save, save as, or click on the disk icon, etc. It is extremely frustrating to create or modify and quickly save a file and then not be able to find the file. Yes, I know if you carefully watch where select the file to be saved it will go there, However, when working with flash drives, external hard drives, OneDrive, and other network drives it is VERY easy for the file to end up somewhere you would never expect it to go.

Create Cursor Styles or Cursor Attributes (all across Office)
Consider, for example, replying to an email or commenting in a document. It is often useful to reply on a point-by-point basis
In these cases, I don't want to have to set a new format each time I want to add a sentence or two. That is very tedious. Instead, I'd like to set the "Attributes to the Cursor" such that, wherever I click, and type, the attributes of the existing text are unchanged, but the new text is formatted as set by the attributes currently assigned to the cursor (as if I had typed my addition, selected it, and reformatted appropriately).
Now, my email (or document) could be as sent by sender, with clear and obvious changes made by me, without the tedium of individually setting attributes to new text.
Perhaps we need "Character Styles", "Paragraph Styles", and now "Cursor Styles". (This should also be built into Outlook, even if only primitively).
(Is this available in a particular release of Office? I have 2010. This would be a reason to upgrade to a new release immediately.)

Word 2016 PreviewHandler bug
I created a component that uses the IPreviewHandler functionality to display previews of files (like the preview pane in Windows Explorer). Unfortunately the previews of Word files that Word 2016 displays are shifted to the left and shifted up. Other Word versions (Office 2007) don't exhibit this behaviour and are working correctly.
You can use the sample project on this page to reproduce the behaviour: http://www.brad-smith.info/blog/archives/183
Compile it and open a Word document.

Please bring back view side by side in View, it is an invaluable time saver
This is useful for comparison, cutting and pasting from one document to another etc.

I think that office should have text readers.
Voices that read your text out loud to you.

Option to turn off hyphenation of the last word in a paragraph
I propose an option to prevent hyphenation of the last word in a paragraph. The tail of the last word is usually too short, it is not fine.

Much needed upgrade to Microsoft Text based programs - Readability tool to set grade level before adding text
Much needed upgrade to Microsoft Text based programs - Readability tool to set grade level before adding text.

I work with Veteran Health Education and Health Promotion/Disease Prevention. As a committee, we are required to publish, locally at our facility, customized patient materials that are at a sixth grade level. Often this is harder than it sounds. I have been waiting for Word to be able to have an option to set a desired reading grade level before you begin your document, so that when you type in the word....say...elect...and a pop up box, much like spell check, would suggests words such as....choose....pick.
Since Word already can analyze what readability level your document is rated at, once written, it seems like all that work is already done. It's just sitting there when it can do so much more! Word simply doesn't highlight the words that need to be changed nor suggest other words that would better fit the grade level desired.
I am also a Michigan Volunteer Nurse.
Thoughts! A Word Editor would be a wonderful addition to the already wonderful Microsoft Word.

Option to show empty Sites
When layouting some Elements on the page sometimes I need to know what is on the opposite page (for books). If I have a section that starts must start on an odd page, word adds this. Unfortunately it hides this page. Viewing the document in two page layout shows now pages that are not together in the print version.
This makes layouting of some elements painful.

Make field codes for linked images accessible
In Word 2003 and earlier, when an image is linked, or linked and embedded, an INCLUDEPICTURE field is created. Toggling field display with Alt+F9 allows the user to see the field, including the path to the linked image, which can then be edited. This permits creating INCLUDEPICTURE fields that incorporate merge fields, and it also makes it possible to find the location of elusive images.
Word 2007 and above do not make INCLUDEPICTURE fields accessible in this way, greatly complicating image merges.

Some active content has been disabled. Click for more details.
When creating a new (empty) document I get this message and get a button "Enable Content". This makes no sense! Please remove this non-feature. I don't have any content at that moment. If this warning is referring to content behind the scenes, it is equally useless since I've no way of seeing what Word is including.

Correct method of opening files from other applications
When I open a Word file from my email program (and some other other applications) I get an error message telling me that "Word can't do this because a dialog box is open. Please close the dialog box to continue"
In fact NO dialog box is open (other than the one telling me a dialog box is open) and if I click on the OK button, the document opens normally.
This cannot be what was intended. Please correct.

Make it possible to look at the whole page without having to type stuff so you know how much of the page you have left.

Let us create a custom dictionary to scan and edit reports for poor word use
I have a list of 100 or so words and phrases that are editing hot points. I want to be able to create a custom dictionary that will flag the use of any of these words either as I write them or after the fact so I can correct them. Like incentivize, in order to, despite the fact that, at which time, try and, leverage (as a verb), etc., as discussed in Ann Handley's terrific book, "Everybody Writes." Also to search for clichés to make sure they are not overused. This would be a great editing tool and so much easier than doing a Find for each word or phrase. Thanks.

Problem Silbentrennung (Word 2016, "manuell")

Drag and drop image from Live Photo Gallery
For some time, it was possible to drag and drop an image from Live Photo Gallery into an open Word document. This no longer works in Word 2013. If you try it, a cursor appears in the docx file, but if you release the mouse, nothing is pasted into Word.
