Open File List
I'm a writer and I usually work in WordPerfect (yes, yes, lèse-majesté) but since everyone else uses Word, and I'm in the editing phase of this, I need to use it as well right now. I have several parts of this book open at the same time stored in different files, and I need to keep them separate for the time being. What I want to be able to do is display a list of open files so I can toggle back and forth between them more easily. They are shown in the taskbar in small tiles, but it would…

Footnote fonts
When I make a footnote in a document, Word reverts to the default font, Calibri, for the text of the footnote. This is super-annoying when the body of my document is not that font. The font for footnotes should default to the same font as the body of the text.

Right-click shortcut for "Open different file in same directory"
Sometimes you want to open a file in the same directory as one that is currently open, but you don't want to have to navigate a long way away from the current directory. I'd like to be able to right-click on a file in the "Open" pane and have the following option added: "Open different file in same directory" or "Navigate to this file's location"

It would be great to add a command for deleting the current comment
I'm a copyeditor and often have documents with hundreds of comments. I'd like to be able to move through the comments one by one and, with a keyboard command, delete comments that are no longer relevant.

Have a customised option to load only Corporate Styles
Currently we have a Corporate Style, however people are constantly ending up with Office default styles. Then they have to remove it and the organizational one appears again from the Workgroup area.
Also people are modifying their own normal.dot and working outside of the corporate style.
An option for corporations to only display and use corporate styles would be an asset for the office business use and users.5 votes -
Silly bug with spellcheck and apostrophes
In Hebrew, words that end with the sound "ch"such as "Sandwich" or "Greenwich" are written with a "'ץ" and an apostrophe. So:
Sandwich - סנדוויץ'
Greenwich - גריניץ'
etc.
The problem is that word's spellcheck ignored the apostrophe and tried to correct it by suggesting you add an apostrophe.
So you do, and then it ignored the apostrophe again, and tried to correct it by suggesting you add an apostrophe... You see where this is going.
Here's a funny gif of the issue:http://i.imgur.com/QrvdvAv.gif
It's obviously not a showstopping bug, but still a bug, so there you have the report…

When clicking 'Next Comment', the whole comment should show
When I'm reviewing my comments and clicking 'Next' to get to the next one, it's irritating that sometimes only the top few lines of the comment shows on the page and I have to scroll up to read it all. Is there any way of getting the whole comment to show on the page?

Please teach people not to send graphics in word documents
extra clippy-ness feature to yell at people to stop sending graphics in word documents; should be part of the standard tutorial: "the time it took you to embed the graphic and make a new document (and render the graphic unusable), you could have attached it and emailed it to begin with"

Spell check should be on by default in the reviewing pane - Word 2013
For some reason this is off by default and it is very fiddly to turn it on. You basically have to select the words you want to have spell checked and then go to Review > Language > Set Proofing Language and untick the box 'Do not check spelling or grammar'. You can't even do a 'Select All' and turn it on, it only appears to work if you turn it on for each comment separately. Perhaps if you created a preference in Options > Proofing? - if you think that some people wouldn't want this on (although I can't…

Change Ribbon icons in black theme for better contrast
The black theme is a great improvement but the blue colour used throughout the Ribbon icons is too dark and therefore the contrast with the surrounding bar too low. Ideally I'd like to be able to change all non colour related icons to a uniform white colour to make them stick out less.

Insert cross-reference paragraph number and text in one selection
When I want to insert a paragraph reference, I have to do this in two times, because I always want the paragraph number and text in the reference. This should be an additional option in the list.

Section/Page Break
Document breaks should have a clickable tab that allows you to change what type it is. As I write, I might go back and forth between a page break, a continuous section break, or a next page section page, etc. It'd be great to seamlessly toggle between these options without deleting what I have then inserting what I want at a given time.

Word for Windows crashes when uploading files to onedrive for shared collaboration
While Word for Windows is probably the most powerful tool for online collaboration, it happens to be buggy, crashy, and generally needs more work for improvement. For instance, if someone is modifying one part of the text, it cannot be modified by another user until the document is shared. This is extremely inconvenient and an issue that is not present in other collaborative word processors. Even when working on different parts of a document, as to ensure no conflicts arise, still more problems hinder it; on a particular document, word crashed entirely when saving the document to onedrive or refreshing…

Autocorrect for Symbols
Word should offer to autocorrect symbols such as the degree symbol, so that if I type "degree", I can then r-click then l-click the superscript O symbol.

Allow defining of list indents when defining a new number format
When defining a new number format in Numbering, there is no way to adjust the list indent. I have to create a list first with the format before right-clicking on the list to adjust the list indent. This is very troublesome, and even more frustrating when list indents cannot be incorporated into a style.

Continuing where you left (Shift + F5)
Using Shift + F5 for ‘continuing where you left’ doesn’t work properly when multiple documents are opened. It jumps from one document to another one, that was already open, and I haven’t found any logic behind this. This function should be linked to the current document.
I’m aware that clicking the icon after opening a document does jump to the correction left-off-position, but 1) this icon dissapears after scrolling and 2) I prefer to keep my fingers above the keyboard without having to use my mouse / touchpad.
Thank you!3 votes
