  1. Save custom colors

Please add functionality that saves custom colors, for use with anything that can have a color set for it (shading, font, tables, borders, etc. - everything). The functionality is almost there with the "Recent Colors" sub-menu in every Color palette menu. Just make it like that but so that it can be saved, for example in a Word template.

  2. A4 A3 print

In Europe, hundrets of millions of people and printers just use two paper formats: A4 and A3. It would be great, if MS could make an easy way for printing by giving A4, A3, portrait, landscape direct and easy access // Japanese, Chinese and USA-paper-formats: further behind.

  3. A component to accept scribbled signatures with user-id and password based authentication.

    Hi,

Change Management in companies require approvers to give their wet-signature (ink-signature) on a document, scan and email it to next approver. This is a wasteful practice and since a wet-signature is no more authentic than a password-based authentication, a component which can accept a scribbled signature (like handwriting in onenote etc), with further authenticated by providing the signatory's user-id / pwd can be used to negotiate with change control teams to accept this in-lieu of wet-signatures.

    Thank you,

  5. Rename a file within Word

It should be possible to change the filename of a document without exiting Word. Currently, the only way to do this is to perform a "Save As" and then make sure you go to Windows Explorer to delete the version of the file with the previous filename.

  6. Numbering of comments

    Dear Microsoft,

Why did you eliminated the numbering of the comments? It is such a bad idea! In a document where I have 20-30 comments, it has become just impossible to keep track of these comments anymore. Please, please bring it back.

  7. Can't select lines drawn in Shapes

When trying to select a line drawn from Shapes, the text (I-bar) cursor flashes to the move cursor (the perpendicular arrows) for a millisecond but then returns to the text cursor. It's as if Word doesn't even "see" the shape! Please, please, please fix this!!

  8. You should get a spell check.

You need a spell check because if kids are typing stories, and they spell something wrong, they can see that because of the line, but don't know how to spell it correctly. Some words are even tricky for adults, and it can make self doubt. You really need a spell check that you can go to too fix your mistakes so that if you're turning something in, it would be edited, but you have to edit it. Click on a button, the computer will give you an example of what it thinks you're trying to spell, ta da! I think…

  9. Missing "Document panel" in Word 2016 BIS

As the previous idea is stated as "completed", there is no way for us to vote on this poorly and buggy "completed" idea.
To anyone concerned about this feature, I suggest you to give your feedback here.

  10. Add audio notes to a Word doc that syncs up to Ink and text... just like in OneNote.

Word has the ability to do Ink Replay. Imaging a teacher grading a Word doc with a pen. They love the ability to ink notes directly in the application. BUT, it would be way better if they were able to talk to the work doc when they write, just like the Insert Audio function in OneNote. Imagine a student getting a graded word doc back from the teacher. The student could press Ink Replay and listen to the teacher grade their paper. This would make the short-hand notes much more affective and allow the teacher to truly convey the information…

  11. Bug: Dictation: Open quote for new sentence, does not capitalize first word."

Dictation: Look back logic on Open Quote command does not recognize proper punctuation a lot of the time.
    Examples:
“let's start this new sentence and see if it gets capitalized ” or let's try it with commentary by characters he said, “let's try this and see if it works .” “well that's confusing ”, she said.“ it didn't recognize the beginning at all ; In fact it added an extra space 2 .” “well that didn't work ; And neither did this period” THIS SHOULD BE FIXED. I have high speed internet; and an extremely fast gaming computer... none of…

  12. Remove the squiggly red line under the word "Victress" on all Microsoft Word mediums.

The word "victress" receives the squiggly red line underneath of a bad or misspelled word. It is neither. It is in the Oxford English Dictionary. It is the gender balance to the word "victor" which does not incur squiggly red line wrath. Please help validate the word and give girls and women everywhere a small win.

  13. Close & Save All

Add a Close and Save All feature to Word. I normally have several Word docs open simultaneously and often would like to close / save all with one mouse click but I must tediously close & save each. Help! I've been using Word since its very early versions in the late 80s...

  14. Revert "By Author" default colors in track changes from pink/gray back to red/blue

With the most recent Word update (May, 2019) the default "By Author" colors for edits made using track changes has changed from red and blue to pink and gray. This is an unnecessary and terrible change. Red and blue are easy to see onscreen and in print. Pink and gray are not. There are a lot of other good user suggestions in this forum of how to make track changes better. Please work on implementing some of those useful suggestions rather than "fixing" things that aren't broken. And for the sake of those who earn our living using track changes…

  16. Navigation pane size

In the latest iteration of 365, the navigation pane opens to a pre-set size that the user cannot change. Until recently, Word would use the size last used by the user.

See this thread on the answers forum (one of several about this)
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/word-2016-navigation-pane-size-is-not-remembered/eb9542e4-e8aa-4d03-b95b-78a7326b15c9

  18. Make it easier to insert a footer with automatic page numbers

Please make it easier to insert a footer with automatic page numbers instead of having to go through 10 steps. In Ms Word 2007, all the typist had to do was to click on Header or Footer, choose Footer and then click on Quick Parts, File Name, Title case & the footer along with the page number was inserted automatically on ALL pages of the document. The way it is now, typist must first put in the Footer, then copy the footer, Click on Design under Header & Footer, and then click on Page Number in the left side of…

  19. Let people select their paper size regardless of their printer

Word retrieves its list of paper sizes from the printer. But nowadays, we are no longer directly connected to the printer. We create the document and send it to the print service. More often, the only printer we have installed is the Send To OneNote virtual printer that does not have A5 or other popular sizes.

  20. Change the default of inserted pictures to "Square" instead of "In Line with Text"

For the sake of non tech-savvy people, it would probably be best to change the default of how inserted pictures are displayed in a document to "Square" instead of "In Line".
They just don't seem to find the option for it. Even though you show it prominently on the top right corner. And it is what they need most of the time.

"In Line" (the default now) only makes sense for fancy starting letters (only Authors who work daily with Word - and even that makes no sense, because you probably use more than one line for that) and emojis…
