Save custom colors
Please add functionality that saves custom colors, for use with anything that can have a color set for it (shading, font, tables, borders, etc. - everything). The functionality is almost there with the "Recent Colors" sub-menu in every Color palette menu. Just make it like that but so that it can be saved, for example in a Word template.
It's frustrating when recent colours are lost after closing Office. I definitely need this, it would save me a lot of time.
MS Word could easily compile all the custom colours stored in a document when opening it and display these colours under "Recent colours".
And then, maybe rename "Recent colours" to "Document colours" or "Custom colours".
your idea is the best I have seen so far!

Apparently this is something you can do on Windows, but not on a Mac. As a designer, when making documents in my company's brand colors, it makes sense to have this easily accessible. If it's integrated into the Windows version, why is it excluded from Mac? Especially when there are many graphic designers who prefer to use Macs for the rest of their designing?
This is something brought up in the Microsoft Word forum in December of 2017. I'm surprised they haven't fixed this by now.
I want this specifically for the default page colour. This was no problem on previous versions and is so helpful for students at my educational institution who experience visual disturbance, so it's been really disappointing and unhelpful that it's not in the current version. Makes it harder to make reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010.
You can do it through the Design tab. Once your theme is ready, click the Themes button > Save Current Theme.
For anyone who's also waiting for this feature, try this workaround:
Create yourself a color chart in Word, using text, shading, etc., and show the RGB/HTML color values. This can be a simple list, a table, anything. Select all of the information, go to Insert --> Quick Parts --> Save selection to Quick Parts gallery.
This is just one way to accomplish a workaround for making re-using custom colors easier. Just having the ability to save custom colors will be the best way.
