Automatic equation numbering
Automatic equation numbering
Scientific use of equations needs automatic numbering in the right margin, that can be crossreferenced. The current workaround by making your own table etc... is to much of a hassle (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/murrays/archive/2015/05/14/equationnumberinginoffice2016.aspx). Please make it more intuitive.

Automatic equation numbering is almost there. To make it work completely, inserting cross references needs to have the choice "number only" or "field only" rather than "label and number". Right now, the "#" in the equation will do the correct flush right numbering without a table, and auto numbering can be done by using a sequence field (or caption) inside the equation after the "#", but there's no good way to reference the equation. Using the crossreference dialogue would insert the whole equation and number using insert "label and number", or bookmarks have to be manually added to each equation.

One of things Word needs to really make an effort in improving.
