Insert picture from OneDrive
When clicking a "inser picture" a popup should appear. Then you can choose if you want to search for online images, upload from local HDD or insert image from OneDrive files.
We have completed this feature and it should now be available to all of our OneDrive users. In order to insert a OneDrive pictures into your Word Online documents, click ‘Online Pictures’ from the Insert ribbon, select ‘Pictures from OneDrive’, and select the pictures you’d like to add.

I just tried this option today and you can't use "OneDrive for Business". As stated by a previous comment, Personal OneDrive is fine, but Business is not an option.

This doesn't work for OneDrive for Business please, please fix the functionality. When you try to select OneDrive for business it crashes and loops back to Bing search.
This is not completed, this function was not working on OneDrive for Business. Please re-activate this.
Works for FREE Personal OneDrive but not for PURCHASED OneDrive for Business? This is a huge issue and needs to be resolved, especially since mapping ODfB as a network drive seems to be impossible as well... There is no work around which is FRUSTRATING.
Why doesn't this work with OneDrive for Business?? So the free personal account gets this feature and business licensees don't?
Does not work for Onedrive for Business, only personal one drive account

I am running Mac OS/X 10.13.4 Office 2016 16.11.1 (180319). When I click on Insert, Pictures, Picture from File, the browser window appears but no OneDrive option is available in the left menu. Why is this function not available. I have worked around the problem by installing OneDrive application and synchronised my files to my hdd, but this won't work for long as my local hdd will get full.
I have tried to use the method above 'Online Pictures' but 'Pictures from OneDrive' option is not available on the web browser on pc or Mac. The option is available in Word on a Windows machine for Personal OneDrive but not OneDrive for business and the option is not available at all in Word on a Mac.
The problem needs to be resolved quickly before every one fills their local hard drives.
Add search by name, date, size etc. in the dialog box! Please! Right now it looks like the only way to select a OneDrive photo is by scrolling through every picture on your drive, shown as a montage sorted by date, and no other way. I'm trying to illustrate a menu, and I know the image I want is called "fettuccine carbonara", but I can't search for it… just have to scroll through 8,000+ images, which load at the rate of about one second each. For anybody with a serious number of images who isn't trying to illustrate a diary, this feature is so crippled it's useless.

Please implement this for OneDrive for Business, it is difficult to get end users to accept Office 365 if they can't perform basic functions like insert an image from their OneDrive for Business

Please implement ASAP for OneDrive for Business! How it's not part of the core functionality is dumbfounding!

Hi, yeah I thought we all meant Office Online in Office 365/OneDrive for Business as well as the private versions :-(
looks like this is enabled in the OneDrive consumer experience, but not OneDrive for Business yet.
It's not yet available for us either.
I opened Office 365, but couldn't find Pictures from OneDrive (for Business) in Word Online. In consumer service this works.

Thanks, I guess. Sure wish the team would have priorities on bug fixes and I really wish we had actual bug/ticket tracking we could see.
Are they going to put my scanner back into insert pic or document? why cant I buy office on a disk, any more is it to do with the fact I buy one disk and can use it on all my appliances. I'm not happy with 2016 a lot of things that I liked are no longer there WHY
I use Word online and would like to insert picture files from skydrive . I have tried out sway and I was able to do that so why can`t they just do the same for World ,Excel , PowerPoint , and Onenote .
The sync with Onedrive for Business is not an option for so many organizations. Why? what about environments that have shared computers that have a limited size SSD or Terminal Servers (RDS). A terminal server shared by dozens of users who sync a 10GB+ Onedrive on it since Onedrive also won't let you sync it to a file server would destroy its space and performance.
Also now Office 365 has groups, which is such a powerful feature that many highly collaborative organizations would rather use over Onedrive, so I think being able to insert images in Word Online and Powerpoint Online from Office 365 Groups is just as important now.
You can do it in Outlook attachments and in Sway, so just add that same thing to Word and Powerpoint online.
I use Office 365 and Onedrive for Business. Please allow inserting pictures from Onedrive for Business in web browser.

Thanks for the post – and thanks to all those that are speaking with their votes – we’re listening.
This is a good idea that we'll consider for a future update. We could certainly make it easier to add pictures from your personal OneDrive storage. As a workaround, if you have the OneDrive Sync Client installed on your computer you use the existing Insert Picture menu and choose the OneDrive folder that shows up on your hard disk.
Keep up-voting this idea if we haven’t built it yet, and keep the new ideas coming!
